DETROIT – A 20-year-old Detroit woman has been charged with murder in connection with a hit-and-run crash involving her late boyfriend.

Danisha L. Mathis is accused of chasing her boyfriend in her car as he ran away from her on foot.

Police said at 9:13 p.m. Tuesday, Mathis drove up on the sidewalk in the 21000 block of W. 7 Mile Road near Trinity Street and hit Terrence Ricks, 25, of Detroit, with her car.

Ricks was dragged underneath the car and eventually became dislodged, police said.

Mathis is accused of driving away at a high speed down Trinity Street.

Emergency medical officials took Ricks to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Detroit police detectives arrested Mathis on Wednesday.

She is charged with first-degree murder and is expected to be arraigned Friday in 36th District Court.
