LISTEN: Audio released from Flint airport stabbing suspect's initial court appearance

FLINT, Mich. – Audio recordings of Amor M. Ftouhi's initial court appearance Wednesday night were released Thursday and offered new details about the terror suspect.

Ftouhi was arrested after he allegedly stabbed a lieutenant with the Bishop Airport Authority in the neck with a knife. Federal agents said he referenced killings in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan during the incident and yelled, "Allahu Akbar."

The officer was rushed to the hospital and he is in stable condition.

Ftouhi is charged with committing an act of violence at an international airport. Further charges may be pending. He appeared before a judge Wednesday evening.

After the attorney’s introduced themselves, a brief recess was taken before resuming.

The prosecution said that Ftouhi does not speak fluent English, but is fluent in French. He was born in Tunisia and lives in Montreal.

Officials said Ftouhi spit at a guard before the hearing and was put in a mask. 

He is scheduled to return to federal court in Flint next week.
