City of Eastpointe under boil water advisory after power outage causes water main breaks

Boil water advisory will remain in effect until Monday

EASTPOINTE, Mich. – The entire city of Eastpointe is under a boil water advisory after a power outage Friday night caused multiple water main breaks, city officials said.

UPDATE: Eastpointe boil water advisory expected to be lifted Monday

The power outage caused an issue with water pressure in the city's water system, officials said. Three power lines went out when storms moved through the area Friday night, Eastpointe Department of Public Services Superintendent Tony Pry said.

Pry said the outage caused the pressure reducing valve to lose water pressure.

Some homes and business near 10 Mile Road and Gratiot Avenue had their water shut off completely, Pry said.

City officials said full water and power have been restored in the city of Eastpointe, but the boil water advisory will remain in effect until Monday.

The cities of St. Clair Shores and Roseville helped to restore water to Eastpointe.
