Sketch released of attempted carjacker at Wendy's drive-thru in Ferndale

FERNDALE, Mich. – Police released a sketch Friday of a suspected carjacker who made an attempt on a couple in line at the drive-thru of a Ferndale Wendy's restaurant.

A couple was placing their order at the Wendy’s at 22555 Woodward Avenue at about 11 p.m. when two men approached their car and attempted to carjack them.

Surveillance video shows the men split apart. One of them comes out from behind the menu sign with a gun drawn.

The man in the vehicle said the man with the gun pointed the gun at his girlfriend’s chest and told them to get out of the car.

“My instinct was to get away from the gun as quickly as possible,” he said.

The man yelled, “Go” at his girlfriend, and she punched the arm of the man with the gun while it was still pointed at her and sped off.

He said he knew speeding was a risky move but he felt the other option included getting shot.

Police hope the video, while not very clear, can help someone identify the two men.

The man with the gun is described as black and between 25 and 35 years old. He is about 6 feet tall and has a goatee. He was wearing a red baseball hat, white T-shirt, gym shorts, tennis shoes, and designer-type rose tinted glasses. He had a chrome semi-automatic handgun.

The second man is described as black and between 18 and 25 years old. He is between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall. He has a thin build, and he was wearing a white T-shirt and gym shorts.
