NORTHFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A sunflower field in Northfield Township is so beautiful that many people are stopping to take photos of it at the corner of Whitmore Lake and North Territorial Roads.
However, some people are entering the field to get better shots, and that's considered trespassing, police said. The township police are reminding people to stay out out of the private field after someone recently was injured.

The Northfield Township Police Department released a statement this week:
We can all agree that the sunflower field at the corner of Whitmore Lake and North Territorial is beautiful. The farmers that lease that field have clearly posted it NO TRESPASSING. This site is attracting many people to photograph the field. It is ok to safely park and photograph the field from the shoulder of the road. It is NOT ok to enter the field to view or take pictures. Please respect the farmers rights. You would not want people coming to your house walking around in your yard taking pictures. There was a significant injury at the site yesterday by a well meaning person attempting to view and photograph the flowers. There have been people damaging the sunflowers as well as stealing them. This is a farmers crop please respect it. Again if you do stop please be aware of the traffic around you.
Sharon McKee took these attached photos on Tuesday. She said there was a police officer there enforcing the no trespassing rule. She snapped the shots from the shoulder of the road.
