Police raid Detroit home connected to heroin overdose of West Bloomfield woman

41-year-old man taken into custody

DETROIT – West Bloomfield police executed a search warrant Wednesday morning at a home in Detroit where a suspected heroin dealer was taken into custody who is believed to be responsible for a death involving drugs laced with fentanyl.

Officers raided the home at about 8 a.m. in the 17000 block of Dean Avenue.

A 41-year-old man was taken into custody and is being called a person of interest. The man was wanted in connection to the death of a 26-year-old woman who overdosed in West Bloomfield on Aug. 8.

“It was a heroin overdose and we later found out that the heroin was laced with fentanyl,” said West Bloomfield Deputy Chief Curt Lawson. “As we continued to investigate this case, it led us to the residence in the city of Detroit where we executed the search warrant this morning and took into custody a 41-year-old man.”
