Former Hazel Park officer under investigation for embezzlement of $85,000

HAZEL PARK, Mich. – A former Hazel Park police officer resigned prior to learning he was under investigation for allegedly embezzling $85,000 in connection to inconsistencies in the non-drug forfeitures fund.

Sean K. Boucher is under investigation for embezzlement.

According to police, an internal audit of procedures involving non-drug forfeiture funds inconsistencies lead to Boucher's suspension last week.

The amount in question is $85,000.

Boucher is an 18-year veteran officer and was formerly assigned to the Hazel Park Police Department Detective Bureau. He resigned prior to an administrative investigation hearing.

The internal investigation continues and the Michigan State Police have agreed to conduct the criminal investigation.
