REDFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A Redford Township middle school student was assaulted Thursday by a person who tried to pull him into a car on his way to school, police said.
The 13-year-old boy said he was walking to Hilbert Middle School when a blue car pulled up to him on Kinloch Street south of Grove Street near Beech Daly and 6 Mile roads.
A man inside the car asked him, "Do you want a ride?"
When the student said he didn't want a ride, the man got out of the car and grabbed the boy's wrist, police said. The student said he pulled away and ran to school.
The Redford Police Department is searching for a white man in his 40s. He is described as 6 feet 1 inch tall with a medium build and gray beard. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a black hat.
The man was driving a blue four-door car.
Police are hoping residents who live in the neighborhood southwest of Beech Daly and 6 Mile roads have surveillance video that can help in the case.
