In addition to co-founding the Detroit Coalition Against Police Brutality, she also was a leading member of the Coalition to Stop Police Brutality, Repression, and the Criminalization of a Generation.Â
Her passion for justice for those unjustly killed by police officers dates back to the death of Lamar Grable, her firstborn child. A seven-year court battle rendered a $4 million verdict against the city of Detroit and Eugene Brown, the police officer who shot Lamar.
Grable spent much of her life counseling and helping families who had lost members to unjust deaths. She had a degree in counseling and previously worked in the Wayne County court system.
Her viewing will held be on Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Butler Funeral Home on Morang Drive. The funeral will be held on Saturday from 12:30 to 1 p.m. at Second Canaan Church on Hayes Street.
