Crews search for woman who went missing while swimming in Detroit River in Gibraltar

GIBRALTAR, Mich. – Crews are looking for a missing swimmer in Gibraltar.

Authorities said a 42-year-old woman jumped off a boat into the Detroit River near the Humbug Marina about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Witnesses said the woman was swept away by strong currents after jumping in. People on the boat tried to throw a life jacket to her, but she never resurfaced.

The Downriver Dive Team, Grosse Ile Search Team and the U.S. Coast Guard haved teamed up in the search.
