DETROIT – Detroit police are investigating after a body was found inside a burned car that was covered in snow on the city’s east side, officials said.
The discovery was made at 9:42 a.m. Tuesday near Elgin Street and Gilbo Avenue, which is in the area of Six Mile Road and M-53.
Authorities said there are many unanswered questions about the discovery because there aren’t any homes in the area. The only houses at the location are abandoned, according to police.
Police said they received a call about a car that had been burned. They looked inside the car and found the body, officials said.
Detroit police are trying to figure out how long the car was at the location because it was covered in snow. They aren’t sure how it got there.
Arson investigators and detectives are at the scene.
