Heart of Detroit: Hostel Detroit offers travelers a place to stay in the middle of the city

DETROIT – Youth hostels are something that can be found all over Europe, they offer a cheap option for tourists to stay.

Could that concept work in Detroit? In this week’s Heart of Detroit Mitch Albom takes a look at Hostel Detroit and reveals that answer is a resounding yes.

Hostel Detroit is the first and only hostel in Detroit that offers travelers from around the world a low-cost, clean place to stay right in the middle of Detroit. It’s an old apartment building that was built in 1915. It was opened as a chocolate shop and three years ago it was purchased and became a hostel.
