FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The boil water advisory that affected 12 communities in Oakland County is expected to be extended to Monday in parts of northwest Farmington Hills, the county announced Saturday morning.
There was a loss of water pressure Friday night for a couple of hours due to a malfunction in a pressure regulating valve operated by the Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner at Halsted and 14 Mile roads.

The advisory is expected to end before the weekend is over for areas of Farmington Hills north of I-696.
UPDATE: Rochester Hills, Oakland Township lift boil water advisories
Crews repaired the water main along 14 Mile Road between Drake and Farmington roads after it broke during a brief power outage at the GLWA west service center.
The boil water advisory blocked water to more than 50,000 homes. Officials said the number was down to 35,604 Wednesday during repairs.
The boil water advisories were lifted in Rochester Hills and Oakland Township, but there are still 274,709 residents impacted, officials said.

- Farmington Hills (North of I-696)
- Novi
- Novi Township
- Oakland Township (specifically the subdivisions: The Hills of Oakland and Kings Pointe) -- LIFTED THURSDAY AT 4 p.m.
- Orchard Lake Village
- Rochester Hills (north of Hamlin and west of Livernois) -- LIFTED THURSDAY AT 4 p.m.
- Walled Lake
- West Bloomfield Township
- Wixom

"We're lucky we still have enough water to do basic things like use the restrooms and being able to pull water to boil and wash dishes, and luckily, this is something that can be easily, well, relatively easily fixed," said Steve Smith, who was affected by the water main break.
