Davontae Sanford, man falsely convicted of murder, shot in Detroit

No suspect is in custody at this time

DETROIT – Davontae Sanford was shot Saturday night in Detroit, police said.

Police said Sanford was shot in the right leg at about 9 p.m., and was rushed to the hospital.

Sanford, 24, was falsely convicted of the murder of four people when he was 14, and spent nearly a decade in jail before being released last summer.

Police said he is expected to be okay, but is reportedly being "uncooperative" with investigators.

No suspects are in custody at this time, police said.
