GROSSE POINTE WOODS, Mich. – A Detroit man was in court Thursday for a preliminary hearing in a home invasion in Grosse Pointe Woods.

He faced the victim in the courtroom as she gave a chilling testimony of the attack.

Gerald Duane Day, 27, of Detroit, is charged with the following crimes:

  • Home Invasion 1st Degree;
  • CSC 1st Degree (during felony and/or with weapon);
  • CSC 1st Degree (during felony and/or with weapon);
  • CSC 2nd Degree (during felony and/or with weapon);
  • Assault with Intent to Commit Armed Robbery;
  • Weapon - Felon in Possession;
  • Weapon - Felony Firearm.

Authorities say the 37-year-old woman was sexually assaulted April 15 during a home invasion in the 19000 block of Raymond Street. Day allegedly held a gun to her head during the assault.

Day was taken into custody on April 23 at his home in the 22200 block of Moross Road in Detroit.
