Former Wayne County Commissioner Bernard Parker submitted petitions to have his name placed on the ballot as a candidate for the Detroit City Council. Parker, who represented the east side of the city during his tenure as a county commissioner, has chosen to run within his east side district, defined under the new Detroit City Charter as District # 4.
Parker's filing comes well before the May 14th deadline to insure his place on the ballot, as he has submitted approximately 400 signatures, above the minimum requirement of 300.
"I am committed to using my skills to help improve the city for the citizens of Detroit. I have the ability to get things done, and I believe I can make a difference," said Parker.
