Officials say Prather dropped the victim off at his home, where he allegedly hit him with his truck and left him on the road.

The victim was in critical condition but is expected to survive. Prather left the state and was recently deported back to Michigan.

The 48-year-old man is charged with assault with intent to murder (life felony), failure to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in serious impairment or death (five years), and operating a vehicle while license suspended, causing serious injury (five-year felony). Prather is also being charged as a habitual fourth offender.

On Thursday (April 11), Prather was charged in 37th Warren District Court by District Court, where bond was set at $350,000 cash/surety, no 10%.

If released, Prather must wear a steel cuff GPS tether, have no contact with the victim, and not leave Michigan.

A Probable Cause Hearing is scheduled for Thursday, May 16, at 8:45 a.m.

“Fleeing the scene after allegedly causing serious injury is a cowardly act that will not go unpunished,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido. “Regardless of where the individual attempts to hide, we will ensure they are brought back to face the consequences of their actions. There is no escape from accountability.”
