The weather pattern begins to change on Sunday as heat and humidity build back into Southeast Michigan. High temperatures will climb to around 90 degrees, while increasing moisture in the atmosphere pushes heat index values into the low to mid-90s. As the warmer, more humid air returns, so does the chance for thunderstorms. A few isolated thunderstorms could become strong to severe on Sunday, with damaging wind gusts being the primary concern. While not everyone will see a storm, anyone with outdoor plans should stay alert for changing weather conditions.
A more organized threat for strong to severe thunderstorms is expected to develop on Monday as a stronger weather system approaches the area. Although the exact timing and severity will become clearer over the next couple of days, Monday currently appears to have the greatest potential for widespread thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds, heavy rainfall, frequent lightning, and possibly hail.
