Road reopens in downtown Detroit following DTE substation fire

Incident is under investigation

DETROIT – Detroit police have re-opened the road directly behind Local 4 after a fire at one of DTEs electric substations.

The fire occurred on Friday (April 12) afternoon on Howard Street and 3rd Avenue, causing our parking garage to be blocked until 4 p.m. while fire crews worked to ensure the flames were out.

While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, we have been informed that the facility’s power has been temporarily shut off.

This precautionary measure is to facilitate the ongoing investigation into the incident.
