$5M bond set for Macomb County man accused of murdering his wife

EASTPOINTE, Mich. – A 41-year-old man from Eastpointe is facing the possibility of life behind bars after reportedly killing his wife.
According to authorities, Steven Frank Kolson Jr. got into a fight with 43-year-old April Vitale on Saturday, July 27, that ended in her being strangled to death.
Kolson was charged Tuesday, July 30, with first-degree premeditated murder. His bond was set at $5 million cash/surety. If released, Kolson would be required to wear a steel cuff GPS tether with home confinement and have no contact with any witnesses or Vitale’s family.
Kolson’s probable cause hearing is scheduled for Aug. 13.
