A 23-year-old Shelby Township man has been charged in connection with two incidents involving the alleged kidnapping of two young girls.

Allegedly, on Tuesday (Aug. 13) at 1:30 p.m., the 23-year-old man attempted to unlawfully imprison a 15-year-old girl who was walking on Clinton River Road in Clinton Township, where a witness intervened, and the victim was able to escape.

Later the same day, officials say at 2:30 p.m., the 23-year-old man approached a 7-year-old girl at the Clinton River Park North entrance, grabbed her off her bike, put her in his car, and attempted to leave the Sterling Heights park.

The 23-year-old man was charged with attempted unlawful imprisonment, a five-year felony, and assault and battery, a 93-day-misdemeanor in the Clinton Township incident.

He is scheduled to be charged in Clinton Township District Court and Sterling Heights District Court on Thursday, Aug. 15.
