Police warns of thin ice after water rescue in Wayne County

RIVERVIEW, Mich. – This early in the season, people can assume no ice is safe, no matter how cold it’s been in recent weeks.

Riverview police issued a warning on Sunday after responding to Young Patriots Park, where someone fell through the ice on the edge of Reflection Pond.

Crews saved the person, and they are expected to be okay.

There is a “No Skating” sign near Reflection Pond. The city said public works crews will change the sign when the ice becomes thick enough to skate on.
