Head-on crash in Orion Township leaves 1 dead, 1 injured

OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – A crash involving three vehicles in Orion Township on Thursday left one man dead and another injured.

The crash happened on Dutton Road near Bald Mountain Road just after 5 p.m. on Jan. 2, 2025.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said a Richmond man was driving east on Dutton Road when his car crossed the centerline and struck a pickup truck driven by a 25-year-old Orion Township man head-on.

After striking the pickup truck, the Richmond man’s car also struck an SUV driven by a 43-year-old Rochester man.

The Rochester man was not injured, said the sheriff’s office.

The Richmond man was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The Orion Township man was also taken to a local hospital for his injuries. The sheriff’s office said his condition is stable.

Authorities said alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
