DETROIT – Police are searching for a driver who dragged an officer while fleeing a traffic stop on Detroit’s east side.

The incident occurred on Wednesday (Jan. 15) at 8:10 p.m. in the 11200 block of Duprey Street.

Officials are looking for a silver Impala being driven by a man they say they recognized as a known narcotics offender.

Police said they asked the man to step out of the vehicle but he refused and rolled up his window before fleeing and dragging the officer was at his passenger door.

Officials say one shot was fired at the man, but it appears that he was not hit.

The injured officer was transported to a Metro Detroit hospital as a precautionary measure.
