Tax foreclosures in Wayne County hit 2-decade low

DETROIT – Wayne County has reached a record low for tax foreclosures, the lowest in over two decades.

According to Wayne County Treasurer Eric R. Sabree, the county saw 2,111 tax foreclosures, the lowest since 1,184 in 2023.

Sabree credits a number of programs and payment plans, in addition to nonprofits and community organizations for reducing foreclosures.

“It takes many partners to address this issue, and we are grateful for their support. Without them, this work would be overwhelming,” Sabree said. “The tools and support we have help us save homes, which saves neighborhoods.”
