Wayne County extends foreclosure deadline following bomb threat

DETROIT – Wayne County Treasurer Eric R. Sabree has extended the deadline for Foreclosure Claims Notices of Intent and Foreclosure Prevention by a week after an unexpected evacuation of the Treasurer’s office on Monday.

The new deadline is set for April 8, a week after the original deadline, Monday, March 31.

The program is for residents at risk of losing their homes due to unpaid property tax payments. Monday was the last day for property owners to establish a payment plan to avoid foreclosure, but the building was evacuated due to a bomb threat.

Residents can submit a Notice of Intent Claims Form at the Wayne County Treasurer’s Office on April 8. Walk-in and appointments will be available on April 2, 3,4 7 and 8, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
