Earl Raynard Anderson Jr. is accused of sending inappropriate text messages to a child on Feb. 22, 2025. (Macomb County Prosecutor's Office)
WARREN, Mich. – A 37-year-old police officer from Detroit accused of sending inappropriate text messages to a 12-year-old girl has been bound over for trial.
The victim is reportedly the daughter of Anderson’s wife. Text messages revealed that Anderson had asked the girl to keep their conversation private and had advised her to delete their messages.
It reportedly happened Feb. 22 in Warren.
Anderson was initially charged with accosting a child for immoral purposes, but during his Tuesday, April 8, preliminary exam, the judge granted a motion for an additional charge of using a computer to commit a crime. Both charges are 4-year felonies.
District Court Judge Suzanne Faunce ruled there was enough evidence to move forward with a trial. Anderson’s next court date is April 21.
