Detroit teen charged as an adult for allegedly shooting, injuring 13-year-old

16-year-old facing multiple charges

DETROIT – A 16-year-old girl has been charged in connection to a shooting that left a 13-year-old boy injured in Detroit.

The shooting happened in the 17100 block of W 7 Mile Road just before 7 p.m. on April 23, 2025.

According to police, 16-year-old Princess Diana Jennings-Carter from Detroit allegedly approached the 13-year-old boy at a bus stop and shot him several times. She then ran away from the scene.

When officers responded to the area, they found the 13-year-old suffering from gunshot wounds to his thigh and buttocks area.

Detroit police arrested Jennings-Carter on April 24.

Jennings-Carter was charged with assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm, carrying a weapon with unlawful intent and three counts of felony firearm.

She was charged as an adult and was given a $500,000 cash/surety bond.

Jennings-Carter’s next court date is May 5.
