EGLE celebrates deployment of 18 electric school buses in Dearborn (Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy)
DEARBORN, Mich. – Michigan’s Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) and Dearborn Public Schools celebrated the addition of 18 electric school buses to the district.
Phil Roos, EGLE’s director, said in a statement, “This is not just an upgrade to a school fleet – it’s a bold investment in reliability, cost savings, and the health of our students and drivers.”
Here’s what the new buses mean for the district:
These buses don’t emit tailpipe pollution
The district will save money on gas, so more resources can be sent back to the classrooms
Electric buses are quiet
One step towards reducing climate pollution
This project became possible because collaboration between federal, state, and local leaders:
Dearborn Public Schools
Blue Bird and Holland Bus Company
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
Michigan Department of Education
In less than three years, almost 400 electric school buses have been placed in school districts across Michigan .
