HIGHLAND PARK, Mich. – A former Highland Park teacher is facing multiple charges for allegedly grooming and sexually assaulting a student.
Vincent Weaver, a 29-year-old man who used to teach at George Washington Carver Academy School, was arrested during an off-site school event on May 16, 2025.

Highland Park police worked with the school security to identify Weaver, who was reportedly dressed in disguise not to be recognized by staff.
Weaver is facing one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of misdemeanor indecent exposure.
He is accused of sexually assaulting a student who was between the ages of 10 and 12 years old. Highland Park police said the allegations include grooming the student and performing sexual acts while on school grounds.
Weaver was a fine arts teacher at George Washington Carver Academy School since August 2023 and was a coach for the school’s dance team. He was terminated from his position in May 2025.
He was arraigned Monday afternoon and given a $250,000 cash/surety bond. If released, he must wear a GPS tether and cannot have any contact with the victim or any minors.
A probable cause conference was scheduled for Tuesday, May 27.
School officials released the following statement Monday afternoon:
“George Washington Carver Academy was recently made aware of an incident involving a teacher and student. We immediately notified law enforcement, placed the employee on suspension, and after an internal investigation, terminated their employment and removed them from campus.
We are fully cooperating with the Highland Park Police in their ongoing investigation and please ask that you direct any further inquiries to them.
Our immediate, top priority and focus remains the safety and well-being of our students and their families, and we are committed to supporting them with appropriate resources during this time.
