DETROIT – A high-speed police pursuit has ended after the suspects involved crashed into a school bus in Detroit.
The incident occurred on Friday (May 23) at 3:45 p.m. on Fullerton Avenue and Meyers Road.
Police said they were doing an investigation at Mettetal Street when they encountered the suspects leaving their house.
Officials said the suspects entered a vehicle and collided head-on with one of the police scout cars before fleeing the scene.
Detroit police Captain Shannon Hampton said other officers quickly picked up the pursuit, leading them to the Fullerton Avenue and Meyers Road area.
Hampton said it was in that area where the suspects hit the school bus occupied by three teenagers, causing the school bus to hit another vehicle before coming to a complete stop.
Hampton said the suspects fled from the vehicle, prompting a brief foot chase.
She said the officers apprehended the suspects and confiscated a gun, a large amount of cash, and narcotics.
“This was a pre-scene investigation that the officers were on. We were just looking to get some bad people off the street,” said Hampton.
When asked if the suspects who hit the undercover vehicle were the same individuals being sought, Hampton confirmed, “I believe so at this point.”
In response to a question about the recent shooting involving a Detroit rapper, Skilla Baby, Hampton clarified, “This is not connected. This is a completely separate incident. No connection whatsoever.”

Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the teenagers on the bus, but the two suspects were transported to a Metro Detroit hospital with minor injuries.
