DETROIT – The Detroit Police Department is seeking the public’s help as they search for a suspect who allegedly hit a man with a bottle after he denied the suspect’s request for money outside of a liquor store.

The assault happened at 6:38 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, in the 500 block of E. State Fair.

Police say the suspect asked a 60-year-old man for money outside the liquor store. When the victim denied the request, the suspect allegedly went into the store, grabbed a bottle, and came out and hit the man, according to police.

After that, the suspect also tried to hit the victim with a blunt object, but the man left the liquor store and then called police from a different area.

The victim had minor injuries but refused medical treatment, police said.
