3-year-old thrown into windshield during three-car crash on EB I-96 in Detroit

DETROIT – A 3-year-old child was thrown into a windshield during a three-car crash on I-96 in Detroit.

The crash occurred on Thursday (May 29) at 9:40 a.m. on the eastbound lanes of I-96 near the Southfield Freeway.

When troopers arrived on the scene, they learned that the incident happened on the I-96 local lanes ramp in Southfield.

Michigan State Police said the at-fault vehicle, driven by a 32-year-old woman from Detroit, had the 3-year-old child in it.

Officials said the 3-year-old was thrown into the front windshield from the back seat.

Police said the 3-year-old was transported to a Metro Detroit hospital for medical treatment.

The ramp was closed for the crash investigation, but there were no other serious reported injuries.
