DETROIT – Detroit police arrested four armed men after an officer witnessed a violent assault on the city’s west side.
The incident occurred on Wednesday (June 4) around 10:30 a.m. when the officer was on Prevost Street, north of Grand River Avenue, when he saw the men approach another man on his porch before assaulting him with a gun.
Officials said the suspects barricaded themselves in a nearby home, refusing to come out until a special response team arrived.
Police said the suspects were taken into custody.
Officials said the victim is recovering in the hospital and is expected to be okay.
The motive behind the assault is under investigation.
“This was a conservative effort by the 6th and 8th precincts along with the Metropolitan Police Division, and I am thoroughly convinced that today these officers’ actions prevented a shooting.”
