Motorcyclist dies in I-96 crash on Detroit’s west side

Police believe he was speeding and lost control of the vehicle

DETROIT – A 30-year-old man from Detroit was killed Friday night after crashing his motorcycle on I-96.

It happened just after 9 p.m., June 6, near Evergreen Road.

According to authorities, multiple 911 calls were made regarding a motorcycle without a rider on the left shoulder of the westbound I-96 express lanes.

First responders found the motorcyclist in the eastbound express lanes. He died at the scene.

Police believe the man was speeding in the westbound lanes, lost control and struck the median, launching him into the eastbound lanes.

No other injuries or vehicles were involved.
