Man to stand trial on murder charges for shooting on Detroit’s east side

Moore faces trial next month

DETROIT – A 41-year-old man from Harper Woods will stand trial for a deadly shooting that happened in March.

Emmanuel Draughan, 21, was shot and killed March 12 at a home on Detroit’s east side, near the intersection of Tacoma and Monarch streets. Authorities believe William Daniel Moore shot Draughan in the chest.

Draughan was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Moore was arrested March 17 and charged with first-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and felony firearm. He was bound over on all four charges May 29.

Moore’s next court appearance is scheduled for June 12.

If convicted, Moore faces the possibility of life behind bars.
