MONROE COUNTY, Mich. – A Monroe County woman scratched her lottery ticket before work one morning and “turned green” when she realized she had won a $500,000 prize.

The 62-year-old player, who decided to stay anonymous, purchased her winning Fantastic 5’s ticket at Tony’s Country Store located at 8503 Secor Road in Lambertville, which is about 40 miles south of Ann Arbor.

“I look at the remaining prizes page on MichiganLottery.com to see which games have top prizes that haven’t been claimed and saw Fantastic 5’s had all three top prizes left which is why I bought the ticket,” the player said. “The next morning, I remembered I hadn’t scratched the ticket yet, so I scratched it while I was drinking coffee before work.”

She couldn’t believe it when she saw that she’d won the game’s top prize.

“When I saw I’d won $500,000, I think I turned green! It was awesome and my husband and I truly could not believe it,” the player said.

The Monroe County woman plans to pay her bills and then save the rest of her winnings.

Each $5 Fantastic 5’s ticket gives players the chance to win prizes from $5 up to $500,000.

The Michigan Lottery said more than $19 million in prizes are still available to win, including two $500,000 prizes, six $10,000 prizes, and 12 $2,000 prizes.
