MONROE COUNTY, MI – A man arrested in an undercover child predator task force for allegedly arranging to meet a 14-year-old girl for sex has been sentenced for his crime. Christopher Joseph Pack was sentenced June 23 to serve five years of probation after pleading guilty to one felony count of accosting a child for immoral purposes and one misdemeanor count of using a computer to commit a crime, court records show. In pleading guilty, additional felony charges of using a computer to commit a crime and child abusive commercial activity were dismissed. He is currently in the Monroe County Jail on a fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct charge, jail records show. Child killed in Monroe County garage fire
MONROE COUNTY, MI – A 12-year-old boy was killed in a fire early Monday morning in Monroe County. Fire crews were called at 1:30 a.m. June 20, to a home in the 100 block of Walnut Street in Summerfield Township for a report of a garage on fire with a child trapped inside, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies and fire crews arrived to find a detached garage engulfed in flames with several family members attempting to gain entry to the garage to rescue the child, police said. Firefighters were able to get inside the garage where the found the boy, identified as Malaki Christian Giles, dead in a bathroom, police said. Police were called at 6:24 p.m. on Memorial Day to Milan Beach located at 16339 Cone Road off U.S. 23 for a man who was at the beach and had not been seen for two hours, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. Man suspected in beating recorded on Snapchat caught by police while sexually assaulting girl
MONROE COUNTY, MI – A pair of men were arrested Saturday after ambushing another man then sexually assaulting a girl who aided and recorded the attack, Michigan State Police said. Troopers arrived to find the victim, a 19-year-old man, who was taken to Promedica Monroe Regional Hospital to be treated for several injuries to his face head and arms, police said. Investigators discovered the victim was lured to the area by a juvenile girl and two men who then attacked the victim while the girl recorded the assault and posted it on Snapchat, police said. The man was arrested along with the other man who was located a short time later, police said.
