In addition to the 655 confirmed cases per day, Michigan also reported 278 “probable” COVID cases per day this week. Michigan has reported nearly 2.6 million confirmed COVID cases and nearly 428,000 probable cases since the pandemic began.

MONROE COUNTY, MI – A Monroe woman was killed in a crash Monday morning when she control of her vehicle on an icy roadway, police said. Victoria C. Donnelly-Goins, 25, died Jan. 23, in a head-on crash with another woman on Newport Road, east of Telegraph Road in Frenchtown Township, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. Donnelly-Goins suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The driver of the other vehicle, a 34-year-old Flat Rock woman, was evaluated at the scene for injuries and was released, police said. MONROE COUNTY, MI – Police have identified a previously unknown woman who was killed while walking on I-75 in Monroe County. Paula Quarterman, 41, of Warren, died earlier this month, when she was hit by an SUV on northbound I-75, according to Michigan State Police. Police were called at 9:48 p.m. Jan. 11, to northbound I-75 near the northbound scales on mile marker 8 for the reported crash involving a pedestrian on the highway, police said. Efforts to identify Quarterman at the scene were unsuccessful, but with assistance from the MSP Crime Laboratory in Northville, she was later identified.

MONROE COUNTY, MI – A man being held at the Monroe County Jail was found dead in his cell of an apparent suicide, officials said. Jail correctional officers found the inmate at 11:49 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, and started cardio pulmonary resuscitation, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. “The Sheriff’s Office is saddened at the loss of life and extends their condolences to the individual’s family,” Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough said. Telegraph Road in Frenchtown Township for a reported robbery that had just occurred, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies performed a traffic stop and determined the driver was the robbery suspect they were looking for and arrested him, police said.
