Dearborn man faces charges following domestic assault, wild police chase in semi-truck

The incident occurred on June 7 at 5:45 a.m. in the 5000 block of Argyle Street in Dearborn

Dearborn resident Ali Ahmed Zbib, 55, has been charged in connection with the assault of a 42-year-old woman and fleeing from police officers during a wild pursuit in a semi-truck.

DEARBORN, Mich. – Dearborn resident Ali Ahmed Zbib, 55, has been charged in connection with the assault of a 42-year-old woman and fleeing from police officers during a wild pursuit in a semi-truck.

The incident occurred on June 7 at 5:45 a.m. at a residence in the 5000 block of Argyle Street in Dearborn.

Allegedly, the 42-year-old woman was assaulted by Zbib before he fled the scene.

Dearborn police were dispatched to the scene and began canvassing the area when they reported finding Zbib inside the commercial truck cab in the 14300 block of Michigan Avenue.

Officials said Zbib allegedly reversed the truck before pulling forward, striking the officers’ vehicle and fleeing the scene.

Police said they pursued Zbib to the area of Telegraph Road and Champaign Street in Taylor before terminating the chase for the safety of the officers.

Officials said Zbib was arrested on June 9 and charged with third-degree fleeing and eluding, malicious destruction of police/fire property, and domestic violence.

He is expected to be arraigned on Wednesday, June 11, in the afternoon in the 19th District Court.
