DETROIT – A popular Yemeni coffee shop has opened a new location in Detroit’s Corktown neighborhood.
The grand opening of the new Haraz Coffee House at 1501 Church Street was scheduled for 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11.
“We’re incredibly excited to be part of Corktown’s vibrant and diverse community,” said Hamzah Nasser, founder and CEO of Haraz Coffee House. “Detroit is a city known for its soul, resilience, and innovation — all values that Haraz represents. We look forward to sharing our rich coffee tradition with longtime residents, newcomers, and visitors alike.”
A ribbon-cutting ceremony with local leaders happened at 11 a.m. on Wednesday. There was also live music, henna tattoos and special merchandise giveaways to celebrate the grand opening.

Haraz Coffee House, which sources beans from the Haraz Mountains of Yemen, opened its first location in Dearborn in 2021. Since then, several other locations have opened across Metro Detroit and other U.S. cities.
