Authorities identify man fatally shot by Shelby Township officer

Investigation underway after 41-year-old shot, killed

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The man who was fatally shot by a Shelby Township officer last week has been identified.

The shooting happened at around 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, near 22 Mile Road and Van Dyke in Shelby Township. It stemmed from a traffic stop. The man allegedly pulled out a gun as he was fleeing police.

The man who was killed has been identified as Thomas Antonio Jackson, 41, of Troy, according to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities plan to release more information about the shooting once the investigation is complete.
