GROSSE ILE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The Grosse Ile Parkway Bridge will be closed to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic next week for a second phase of structural steel repairs, officials announced.

The closure is set to begin at 7 a.m. on Monday, June 23, 2025, and is expected to last for two weeks, according to a release from the Wayne County Department of Public Services.

Barriers will be placed at both ends of the bridge during the closure.

All traffic will be detoured via the Grosse Ile Toll Bridge. The detour routes include the following:

  • Eastbound: From W. Jefferson Avenue, turn right onto Bridge Road, then right onto Meridian Road, and continue to Grosse Ile Parkway.
  • Westbound: From Grosse Ile Parkway, turn left onto Meridian Road, then left onto Bridge Road, and left onto W. Jefferson Avenue.

In addition, the bridge won’t open for marine traffic during this closure.

The bridge initially closed on Thursday, May 1, but was temporarily reopened on Thursday, May 22, to provide traffic relief during Memorial Day weekend and Grosse Ile Islandfest.

At the time, officials said that the bridge would be reopened for up to four weeks since the first phase of repairs was completed ahead of schedule.

“The Wayne County Department of Public Services appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as we work to safely and efficiently complete these important infrastructure improvements,” according to the release.
