3 teens lead Livingston County deputies on 100 mph chase in stolen Toyota Camry

Deputies use PIT maneuver to stop car

LIVINGSTON COUNTY, Mich. – Three teenagers led Livingston County deputies on a 100 mph chase in a stolen Toyota Camry, police said.

Deputies from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office tried to stop the stolen Camry on eastbound I-96 near Mason Road on June 20 at around 3 a.m. The sheriff’s office said the car drove away immediately, leading a pursuit through Howell and Pinckney with speeds reaching 100 mph.

Eventually, deputies used a PIT maneuver to stop the car in Hamburg Township and placed the teens into custody.

Deputies discovered that the driver was a 15-year-old and the passengers were a 15-year-old and 14-year-old. All three are from the west side of the state.

According to the sheriff’s office, two of the teens were on tether and allegedly in possession of multiple financial transaction devices that did not belong to them.

The teens were later turned over to their parents. The report was forwarded to the Kent County Prosecutor’s Office for review of the charges since they are juveniles.
