Crews fighting industrial fire on Detroit’s east side

DETROIT – Crews are working to put out an industrial fire on Detroit’s east side early Monday morning.
Flames can be seen from Local 4’s Downtown Detroit skycam happening in the area of Jefferson Avenue and Conner Street in the city’s east side at around 5 a.m. on June 30.
Officials told Local 4 this complex off Lycaste handles waste products from auto plants and other nearby businesses.
At around 2:30 a.m. on Monday, workers saw smoke coming from a portion inside the facility. The workers notified their supervisors and went under an emergency shutdown procedures. The fire then erupted.
A firefighter was injured but is expected to be okay.
