Delta flight returns to Detroit after mid-flight mechanical alert

ROMULUS, Mich. – Around 12:45 p.m. on July 3, 2025, Delta Flight 813 departed Metro Airport bound for Phoenix.

Shortly after takeoff, the crew reported receiving an alert about a mechanical issue unrelated to the engines.

As a safety precaution, the Boeing 757-200 returned to Detroit.

Delta’s maintenance team identified the problem as electrical and completed repairs without requiring passengers to switch plane.

The flight, carrying 154 passengers and six crew members, is now back en route to Phoenix.

It is expected to arrive about four hours later than initially scheduled.
