Robber hits worker in head with axe at Oakland County bank

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – A bank robbery in Southfield hospitalized one person Tuesday.

It happened at a bank near the intersection of 12 Mile and Franklin roads just after 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 1.

According to authorities, a man entered the bank with an axe and demanded money. After receiving the cash, he reportedly hit an employee in the head with the axe and left.

She was taken to a hospital for treatment and is expected to survive.

Police were able to track down he suspect and took him into custody in Detroit at about 1:30 p.m.

Further details were not revealed at the time.
