DETROIT – Investigators are searching for a gunman responsible for a triple shooting in a Detroit neighborhood over the Fourth of July weekend.
The shooting happened near Acacia and Bentler streets in northwest Detroit. Three people were shot just before 3 a.m., on Saturday, according to police reports.
The victims are teenagers -- a 17-year-old and two 18-year-olds.
Police said the shooting appears to have stemmed from an illegal street gathering in the area.
Families who spoke off-camera told Local 4 someone hosted a block party nearby and most of the kids were being respectful.
However, police described the event as an illegal street gathering.
It remains unclear what led to the shooting, but all three victims were reported to be in critical condition.
Detroit police are urging anyone with information to come forward. Those with tips can contact the Sixth Precinct detective unit at 313-596-5640 or Detroit Awards TV to leave an anonymous tip.
