Accidental shooting at Eastern Market sends bullet through employee’s hand, injures 2 customers

DETROIT – The Detroit Police Department is investigating after an accidental shooting left three people injured.

A revolver accidentally discharged inside Al’s Fresh Fish & Chicken Market on Russell Street on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, according to police.

Investigators reported that one bullet passed through an employee’s hand before striking two customers.

All three people were taken to the hospital and are expected to be OK.

The employee told police he found the revolver and was handling it when it accidentally went off.

The investigation is ongoing.
