Shooting at Simms Park in Southfield leaves 1 injured, suspect at large
A shooting at Simms Park in Southfield has left one person injured.
It happened on Thursday, July 10, at 9:50 p.m. in the area of Pierce Street and Wiltshire Boulevard.
Police say they located a 21-year-old man with a gunshot wound.
Officials said the man was transported to the hospital by Southfield Life with non-life-threatening injuries.
Warren police say Rakim Wright died by suicide after chase; 911 call, video released
Warren police held a defiant press conference to address what they claim are “false media narratives” Thursday morning, where they released the 911 call, plus dashcam video, from the chase that ended in Detroit nearly 30 minutes later with Wright dead in his mother’s backyard.
“We felt that given the narratives being circulated in the media that are so grossly incorrect that it was of the essence to get this press conference done today,” Lt. John Gajewski said.
The 911 call set off the chain of events that ended with the death of 32-year-old Rakim Wright of Detroit.
Macomb County McDonald’s employee dies after being stabbed by co-worker, police say
An employee of a McDonald’s in Macomb County has died after being stabbed by a co-worker following a dispute, police said.
Just before 8 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, Eastpointe officers responded to the McDonald’s at 17921 9 Mile Road after receiving a report of a stabbing and a shot fired.
When police arrived, they learned that a manager and another employee had gotten into an argument, and the employee was sent home early.
The employee allegedly returned a short time later with a knife and stabbed the manager with whom she had a dispute, according to police.
Oakland County mom accused of abandoning kids back in court for hearing after being released on bond
The Oakland County mom who is accused of abandoning her three children for years appeared in court for a pretrial conference on Thursday. This comes after she was released from jail on bond in June.
Kelli Bryant, 34, of Pontiac, has been charged with three counts of first-degree child abuse after authorities found her three children — a 15-year-old boy, a 13-year-old girl, and a 12-year-old girl — living alone in squalor. She also faces welfare fraud charges.
The pretrial hearing was held before Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Mary Ellen Brennan on Thursday, July 10.
