Belle Isle event showcases Detroit Slingshot Dynasty’s community mission

DETROIT – Detroit Slingshot Dynasty brought their distinctive three-wheeled vehicles to Belle Isle on Saturday, drawing attention not just to their unique rides but to their mission of community service.

Saturday marked the group’s first power sports showcase, where they connected enthusiasts with community resources, including Focus Hope. The organization, formed last year, has established itself as more than just a riding club.

“Outside of riding, we like to give back,” said Corey King, of Detroit Slingshot Dynasty. “Many members are professionals who come from backgrounds of being less fortunate.”

“We all have a common interest in community and service - we just happen to own slingshots,” said Nikki Alice, of Detroit Slingshot Dynasty. “When we show up, it’s an extra attraction.”

Since its inception, the Detroit Slingshot Dynasty has:

  • Partnered with the Detroit Police Department to reduce gun violence
  • Collected food donations for Forgotten Harvest
  • Raised funds for the Detroit Institute of Arts

“You got a lot of people who are going to do their part to make sure this city is loved on, and it starts with the slingshot community,” King said.
